Under a standing order issued by the State of Maine, Department of Health and Human Services, anyone in Maine who feels they need a test for COVID-19 may get a test at participating sites, with or without symptoms, and without the need for a test order from their own health care provider.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide services without a prior appointment. If we cannot accommodate your needs, please visit https://get-tested-covid19.org/ for a list of other Maine testing sites and providers.

All confirmed appointment holders will receive a confirmation email (sent to the email address collected during the appointment scheduling process). This confirmation email includes a link that appointment holders can use to reschedule or cancel their appointment.

All adult (18+ years old) participants must register and make appointments individually. Parents or legal guardians must register their children/dependents individually. To register, click the “Make Appointment” button for the testing site (location) you are interested in, provide the requested information, and complete the electronic consent form (part of the appointment process).

Health insurance information is not currently required or collected.

At all of our testing sites, we offer a 3-Day Standard RT-PCR Test at no cost ($0) to participants. At our Portland Area location (Portland Jetport), we also offer a 1-Hour Rapid Molecular Test for $25.

Rapid test appointment holders will be charged $25 via credit card or debit card on-site at the time of their appointment. We accept all major credit cards.

In most cases, participants that get a 3-Day Standard RT-PCR Test will receive their test results approximately 3 days after their appointment. Note that the Maine State Lab (HETL) does not process test results on Sundays, which may delay results delivery in select circumstances. For participants that get a 1-Hour Rapid Molecular Test, test results are typically delivered within 1 hour of their appointment.

For both the “Standard” and “Rapid” tests we offer, test results are shared via secure email delivery. A valid email address is required and collected during the appointment scheduling process.

For our 3-Day Standard RT-PCR Test, participants should not expect results until at least 3 days after their appointment. Additionally, in select cases, test result emails may be flagged as “spam” by participants’ email providers; please check your spam/junk folder and retrieve your results if applicable. If more than three days has elapsed, and your test results cannot be located in your spam folder, please contact us at info@CovidTestForME.com and we would be happy to provide further assistance.

For our 1-Hour Rapid Molecular Test, participants should expect results within 1-hour after their 15 minute appointment slot (for example, a 1:30pm – 1:45pm appointment holder should expect to receive results by 2:45pm). Note that test result emails may be flagged as “spam” by participants’ email providers; please check your spam/junk folder and retrieve your results if applicable. If your test results cannot be located in your spam folder, please contact us at info@CovidTestForME.com and we would be happy to provide further assistance. Unfortunately, our staff cannot provide test results in person; do not return to the testing site.

The Standard Test offered at our sites features RT-PCR (Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) testing processed at the Maine State Lab (HETL). The Rapid Test offered at our Portland Jetport (PWM) site is a “molecular” test conducted on-site using Abbott ID NOW® equipment and a COVID-19 assay, targeting the coronavirus (COVID-19) RdRp Gene. Both tests deliver “lab quality” results.

In accordance with guidelines issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, People that test positive are required to self-isolate. Note that this includes avoiding travel and use of public or mass transportation (e.g. air travel). In addition, people that experience symptoms and related distress are encouraged to contact their health care providers immediately.

The hours of operation vary by testing site (location). We are currently offering testing at the Portland Jetport (Portland, ME) 7 days a week, 11:30am – 10:30pm daily. At the Downtown Auburn Transportation Center (Auburn, ME), we are open Tuesday – Saturday, 9:30am – 4:30pm daily.

We are currently operating two (2) testing sites – one in the Portland area (Portland Jetport, 1001 Westbrook Street, Portland, ME 04102) and one in the Lewiston Auburn area (Downtown Auburn Transportation Center, 24 Great Falls Plaza, Auburn, ME 04210). Our testing locations may change in the future (TBD).
